The Brief
For the grand opening of K11 Musea, Hong Kong’s premier "Silicon Valley of Culture," the objective was to deliver a launch show that redefined the intersection of art and retail. The brief called for an ambitious, multi-level performance spanning three floors of the mall, weaving together international creative talent and high-end entertainment to match the venue's world-class architectural identity.
The Approach
We conceptualized a four-act musical production designed to unfold in the heart of the mall. Our strategy involved visualizing every detail from concept to curtain call, ensuring each act featured a distinct theme, color palette, and performance style. To execute this vision, we collaborated with international designers and choreographers, assembling an elite cast of 48 performers, including acrobats, ballet dancers, opera singers, and live musicians.
The Execution
We assembled a world-class creative team to bring this immersive experience to life:
Costume Design: We partnered with New York-based artisan Miodrag Guberinic, known for his work with Madonna, Lady Gaga, and the Wicked movie. His avant-garde, sculptural designs perfectly mirrored K11 Musea’s art-forward brand.
Choreography: Giulio Scatola, a former Cirque du Soleil collaborator and world-renowned choreographer, directed the movement, blending classical technique with theatrical spectacle.
International Casting: We scouted lead feature dancers from Australia, Scotland, and England to bring a global standard of performance to Hong Kong.
The production was a 360° immersive musical across three levels:
Act 1: A vertical showcase featuring acrobatic duos on the ground floor and dancers on the first floor.
Act 2: Twelve ballet dancers performing on the escalators, transforming the mall's architecture into a moving stage.
Act 3: A fusion of opera singers and beatboxers on the center stage, complemented by balcony-level choreography.
Act 4: A high-energy finale featuring a marching band and interactive dancers moving through the crowd.
BPM managed the entire lifecycle of the project in Hong Kong, from music arrangement and costume production to full-scale stage management.
The Impact
The launch was a resounding success, playing to packed audiences and generating extensive press coverage. This landmark event successfully positioned K11 Musea as a global cultural destination and a pioneer in luxury retail entertainment, setting a new benchmark for mall activations in Asia.
